Mr Stuart On His Journey Through His Ophthalmic Training
It was during my first year as a Junior Doctor that I decided I wanted to be an Eye Surgeon. I was fascinated by the technology in the speciality and the fast pace of the research developments. I was accepted onto ophthalmology training in London and through the 7 years of placements I developed a keen interest in corneal and cataract surgery. After completing my general training, I went on to further sub specialise in corneal surgery during a one-year fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
I had decided that I wanted to further subspecialise in Refractive surgery and had seen Professor Reinstein speak at a number of international conferences. I was struck by his passion for the subject and the level innovation that he and his colleagues were demonstrating. I contacted him to ask if I could come and observe his surgery at the clinic and through that, I published some research papers with him.
Having completed my training in eye surgery in the NHS system to consultant level, I joined the team at London Vision Clinic in 2017 as fellow in refractive surgery. I was later given a full-time contract as a refractive and cataract surgeon in 2018.
Mr Stuart On The Best Level Of Care Available At The London Vision Clinic
Working at the clinic alongside Professor Reinstein and Mr Carp has been the greatest part of my career to date. They have taught me to accept nothing less than perfection and I believe this has allowed me to fulfill my best potential as a surgeon.
Since joining the clinic, I have performed over 400 LASIK and SMILE refractive procedures on patients whom of which include my mother-in-law and several friends.
Utilising the state-of-the-art equipment we have at the clinic has meant we have been able to deliver visual outcome results much above the national average following cataract surgery.
I am incredibly proud to be working at a clinic that is a true leader in the field of refractive surgery, and it is a privilege to be able to offer innovative technologies to patients alongside high clinical excellence.
