The world's most advanced ophthalmic technology
We insist on the very highest standards in every aspect of the Clinic's work - including our ophthalmic technology. Of course, technology is only a means to end. We never forget that the most important part of our work is you, the patient, and your vision.
World-class technology, fine-tuned for you
The needs of each patient dictate the way we employ our technology. No two eyes - let alone two people's eyes - are exactly the same. So our first task is to make sure we understand the individual details of your eyes - so we do our research.
By contrast, many clinics still work with relatively basic measurements like your lens prescription and wavefront measurements. We just don't believe this is good enough to offer world-class LASIK eye surgery.
Instead, based on years of pioneering ophthalmic research and our uniquely comprehensive testing process, we create individual treatment plans tailored precisely to your own eyes.

A selection of our ophthalmic technology
- The Zeiss MEL 80 Excimer laser offers the most accurate, auto-stabilised calibrated laser energy delivery. Zeiss was the first laser manufacturer to produce closed-loop energy stabilisation - the patented method of energy stabilisation used by the MEL 80. This gives it the fastest response time of any laser, without the need for frequent user calibration. It is simply the most accurate laser in the world (US FDA trials).
- The Zeiss VisuMax Femtosecond laser is used to create the small corneal flap required for LASIK surgery. With improved focusing and precision, it needs much less energy and allows us to create even more accurate flaps. The unique patient interface, which gently couples to the surface of the cornea, allows the shortest treatment time, and is surprisingly comfortable.
- The Artemis™ ultrasound scanner was the direct result of ophthalmic research by Prof Reinstein and a select team of LASIK surgery experts. It was the first, and remains the only, system in the world that can fully map continuous surfaces inside the cornea. Accurate to one micron (1/1000mm), the Artemis™ provides the most accurate corneal measurements in the world, and is available to only a handful of clinics worldwide.
- The Zeiss WASCA High-resolution Wavefront Aberrometer provides the highest resolution wavefront data available, with ten times as many measurement points as the world's most commonly used wavefront system. By measuring a number of points on your cornea, wavefront builds a detailed picture of your eye's surface. This helps us plan a custom-programmed treatment for each eye. At the London Vision Clinic we use the wavefront data to design an even more effective treatment. We call this a Power Wavefront treatment, and it promises to become the next standard for all LASIK surgery.
- The Procyon Pupillometer measures the size of your pupils in different lighting conditions. This is especially important for ensuring good quality night vision.
- Slit-Topography produces a shape 'map' of the front and back surfaces of your cornea, showing its varying curvatures. We use the Pentacam as well as the Bausch & Lomb Orbscan II - both the most advanced instruments of their kind.
