Mr Mirza is a graduate of Warwick Medical School and possesses over 13 years of extensive experience as an eye surgeon. His professional journey in ophthalmology begun with a corneal fellowship at Western Eye Hospital, where he excelled in complex anterior segment surgery. Transitioning into his role as a consultant, Mr. Mirza began his tenure at the Royal London Hospital, specializing in cataract surgery. His outstanding proficiency in this field earned him a prominent position as a cataract surgeon at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he acquired invaluable expertise, contributing significantly to his skill set.
Committed to Teaching
In addition to his clinical duties, Mr. Mirza is dedicated to education and has authored a book specifically designed for aspiring eye surgeons. He has been invited to deliver lectures on ophthalmic diseases and has presented his research findings on the international stage. This commitment reflects his belief in nurturing the future generation of professionals, ensuring the enduring legacy of expert eye care.

Mr Mirza is held in high regard by his peers. He was vice-president of the Warwick Surgical Society, and has been chosen by his colleagues to represent them at both university and deanery levels. He has also been a pivotal figure on multiple hospital advisory panels and in the design of medical management pathways.
During medical school, Mr Mirza achieved multiple distinctions and merits. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Moorfields Trainee Research Prize for Paediatric Ophthalmology, a Bayer Educational Grant, and the prestigious Drapers’ Company Prize, an award acknowledging his outstanding academic excellence. He was also awarded for his design of a novel simulation teaching model for surgeons learning ophthalmic techniques.
