London Vision Clinic Named As One Of UK’s Top Workplaces For 2013

It is often noted that the challenging economic climate of recent years makes it particularly crucial for organisations to prioritise positive employee engagement. However, at London Vision Clinic, this philosophy is not merely reflective of recent conditions: ever since the clinic was founded in 2002, Professor Reinstein and his colleagues have believed that creating an environment of trust, pride and opportunity would ultimately help us achieve our main goal – to provide our patients with exceptional clinical care and customer service.

Of course, it is one thing to speak of providing a great working environment, but how do employers go about measuring this? This is where the Great Place to Work® Institute comes in.  The GPTW aims to survey more than 6,000 organisations around the world, to provide insight into what makes an organisation a productive, nurturing and positive place to work.

Striving To Be The Best

Unlike other programmes, the Best Workplaces Programme surveys both employees and management, thereby developing more rounded perspectives on companies. This is done by using two types of evaluative tools: the Trust Index© Employee Survey, used to evaluate satisfaction, engagement, communication and opportunities offered, and the Cultural Audit©- a management survey which outlines the company’s HR policies and practices.

This year, 80 organisations achieved the coveted status of ‘Best Workplace’, recognised as workplaces where highly engaged employees have a range of opportunities, and experience trusting relationships with their employers and with one another. For a second consecutive time (since first entering last year) London Vision Clinic appeared on this list, this time achieving seventh position. While this is a fantastic achievement, we also recognise it to be an official reflection what staff and patients have known for a long time – London Vision Clinic is, in fact, brilliant working environment.

In a recent interview with HR Zone, Clinic Manager, Emma Pinker stated that, “happy employees lead to happy patients. Our unified aim is to provide patients with an experience that supersedes the expected standard level of service, and we believe that the only way to do this is to ensure that our employees are not only engaged but also feel a connection with the clinic.”

One of the clinic’s long standing employees, Tuuli, adds, “I’m proud and privileged to be working as part of such an authentic team, who give every patient the care and respect they deserve.”
