Unique High Profile Treatments at London Vision Clinic
If you have a very high prescription, you may assume that Laser Eye Surgery can’t help you. You may even have been turned away by other clinics that are unable to treat you. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are unsuitable for treatment.
Thanks to advancements in technology and techniques in the Laser Eye Surgery field, more people are suitable candidates for this life-changing treatment than ever before. However, many clinics still simply lack the tools and expertise to treat higher or more complex prescriptions.
But that isn’t the case everywhere.
At London Vision Clinic, we have been offering high-profile treatments for high prescriptions for many years. We are often able to treat patients who have previously been told they are not candidates for Laser Eye Surgery. In fact, we can treat around 98% of the patients we see. In comparison, some providers are forced to turn away up to 20% of prospective patients!
But why are we able to offer treatment to high-prescription patients when other clinics cannot? Well, this largely comes down to our access to the latest Laser Eye Surgery technology and the world-renowned expertise of our surgeons.
What does it take to treat high prescriptions?
All Laser Eye Surgery procedures involve removing a precise amount of tissue to reshape the cornea. This effectively adjusts the way light enters the eye, allowing it to focus more accurately on the retina.
When treating higher prescriptions, more tissue needs to be removed, which can be risky. However, with the right tools, it is now possible to treat higher prescriptions than previously thought possible.
Utilising the latest technology…
At London Vision Clinic, we strive to give every patient the best possible treatment, regardless of the technology required. With our access to the latest Laser Eye Surgery technology, having severe long-sightedness or short-sightedness no longer has to be a lifelong battle.
We are consistently at the forefront of the latest developments in Laser Eye Surgery. From PRESBYOND® Laser Blended Vision for ageing eyes to ReLEx SMILE, our clinical team have helped to develop some of the most innovative advancements in the field. Moreover, we have pioneered safe and effective techniques for treating very high prescriptions. We call these High-Profile treatments.
Our offering of these treatments is strongly reliant on our comprehensive screening process, which is among the most thorough in the industry. It involves the use of the Artemis Insight 100™, a state-of-the-art corneal scanner that was developed by our very own founder, Professor Dan Reinstein.
The Artemis scanner is the only corneal scanner able to map individual layers of corneal tissue to within one micron (1/1000mm). Along with an array of other cutting-edge technologies, this allows us to build a three-dimensional picture of the surface of your eyes in microscopic detail.
The data collected with these tools allows us to always ensure we work within strict safety thresholds. As a result, we are able to create bespoke treatment plans to achieve the best possible outcomes, even when treating very high prescriptions.
Perfection takes time
Today, Laser Eye Surgery clinics can be found on most high streets up and down the country. In many ways, this has helped to make Laser Eye Surgery more accessible than ever before. However, many of these providers are focused on high turnover, meaning they simply can’t afford to invest much time in each patient.
When it comes to treating high-profile prescriptions, extra screening time is vital for ensuring the safety of the patient. In contrast to many high-street providers, we deliberately keep our intake low while also investing in the latest technology. This allows us to spend as much time as necessary with every patient.
For those with severe long- or short-sightedness, this can mean a great deal of time. Certain tests may need to be repeated under more extreme conditions (such as full darkness pupillometry, reduced light contrast sensitivity testing, and dilated refractions.
This may seem like a lot – indeed, you will need to set aside several hours for your screening appointment. But when it comes to getting safe and effective treatment for your severe prescription, it’s worth the wait.
