The Value of Sharing Personal Laser Eye Surgery Experiences
Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to share an experience, opinion, or story with the world. With personal blogs, social media, and review websites to choose from, there’s almost always an option to suit you when spreading the word about a particular topic – and Laser Eye Surgery is no exception. In fact, these personal testimonials can be extremely useful for others considering going ahead with the procedure, which is why we try to champion them as much as possible.
Over the years, we’ve shared the video and written reviews of a number of our patients through our blog and our YouTube channel. We’re grateful that our patients take the time to share their story of their treatment at London Vision Clinic – and we can help you do the same.
So, let’s take a look at some stories from our past patients.
Skydiver Jakob has ReLEx SMILE
In 2017, skydiving enthusiast and amateur YouTuber, Jakob Anguiers decided to finally do something about his vision. He was at the end of his tether with his reliance on contact lenses to correct his eyesight – the plastic lenses were less than the ideal solution when jumping out of a plane. With the air hurtling past you, it’s only a matter of time before your lenses become uncomfortably dry!
So, after some consideration, Jakob decided it was time to get his independence back – and he thought London Vision Clinic would be the perfect option to help him do it.
Thanks to the minimally invasive nature of the ReLEx SMILE procedure, Jakob was back in the parachute in no time. In fact, just a number of days after his treatment, Jakob was on the tarmac anticipating his first post-Laser Eye Surgery dive – an experience he described as being like “Ultra 4K definition”.

Jess Goddard Heads Out on Transatlantic Mission After Laser Eye Surgery
In 2021, Jess Goddard was in the middle of a gruelling training regime in preparation for her upcoming row from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. But alongside the anticipation of navigating 20-foot waves and deep sea valleys, Jess was dubious of completing the journey while relying on her glasses. After all, with the potential for such amazing sights along the way, she wanted to be sure she would get the most out of the experience.
So, it was finally time to enquire about her suitability for Laser Eye Surgery.
In her YouTube vlog, Jess takes us from her consultation appointment at our Harley Street clinic, to the day of her treatment and subsequent recovery, right through to her completion of the hardest row in the world.
Thankfully, Jess was able to ditch the glasses (and the foggy lenses and obstructive sea spray that came with them) before setting out on her Transatlantic adventure. Just six weeks after her ReLEx SMILE treatment, she was heading out onto the ocean! A couple of years later, Jess continued to enjoy her new glasses-free vision on the waves, being part of the team to break the record for the fastest row across the Atlantic!

Why not blog about your own Laser Eye Surgery journey?
At London Vision Clinic, we’re always thrilled when our patients take the time to tell others about their experience with us. We are now proud to have over 2,000 five-star reviews on TrustPilot (ant counting!). But if you prefer to share a more detailed account of your Laser Eye Surgery treatment and the process at our Harley Street clinic, we’d be happy to help!
Let’s face it, Laser Eye Surgery can be an emotive subject. It can be difficult to express your thoughts in a few written sentences on a review site. Moreover, for people still considering treatment, hearing the experiences of others can be extremely helpful. That’s why we’re keen to help you blog about your Laser Eye Surgery experiences.
You might choose to cover your experience as a whole, like Jess in the article above. Alternatively, some people choose to focus on the various stages of their treatment journey in individual blogs or videos.
Some potential starting points could include:
- Why I decided to have Laser Eye Surgery
- What happened at my consultation
- Why I decided to go with xxx clinic
- My last night wearing glasses/contacts
- The day of my Laser Eye Surgery
- How I felt after my Laser Eye Surgery
- My first check up – My results are…
- 6 months after Laser Eye Surgery…
So, if you’re keen to share your Laser Eye Surgery experience with others, we’d be happy to provide practical advice and sharing the finished piece!
