Back in Focus: Businesswoman Sees the World More Clearly After Laser Eye Surgery

Having built up a world-renowned reputation for excellence, London Vision Clinic has become the chosen Laser Eye Surgery clinic for patients all over the world. We treat patients of all ages, backgrounds, and careers – and if our independent reviews are anything to go by, we strive to provide every one with the highest standard of care. But of course, going ahead with Laser Eye Surgery is still a nerve-racking experience – even for a highly motivated and successful multi-award winning businesswoman.

Geeta Sidhu-Robb, winner of the “2010 Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Business Woman of the Year” awards, admits she was “petrified” when it came to Laser Eye Surgery. Thinking about the procedure changed her usually driven and focused mindset into a quivering mass of doubt:

“Despite realising that it was an irrational fear, I just couldn’t control it. Although I really wanted to have it done, I found it impossible to pluck up the courage … I was literally petrified at the thought of having Laser Eye Surgery”, said the creator of Nosh Detox (an award-winning London-based health supplement company).

Starting a Successful Business

Sidhu-Robb started Nosh in 2008 after being inspired by her son, who was born with multiple food allergies and anaphylaxis. When Geeta was unable to find the advice and help she needed, she decided to develop her own solutions, with nutritious balanced meals, alternative therapies, and natural supplements. With her products, she saw massive improvements in her son’s eczema (which had previously covered him from head to toe) and his asthma attacks were reduced to only intermittent events.

Geeta herself is a shining example of the healthy lifestyle her business represents. However, behind the scenes, only her close friends and family know that alongside her hectic work schedule – which often included overseas travel and media appearances – Geeta was struggling with poor eyesight – and a crippling fear of doing something about correcting it.

Plucking Up the Courage for Laser Eye Surgery

Even being childhood friends with our very own founder and expert surgeon, Professor Dan Reinstein, wasn’t initially enough to settle her nerves. Their children were at the same school together, so Geeta managed to pick Dr Dan’s brains about the procedure. Still, it took several conversations before she felt ready to make her first appointment at our Harley Street clinic.

“Even though I hated the inconvenience of not being able to see without contacts, and the fact that my partner had already had successful Laser Eye Surgery, poor Dan had to work hard to convince me that the procedure was safe and painless.”

Eventually, though, Geeta managed to overcome her fears. After depending on glasses for her -7.5 D prescription since childhood, her desire to ditch the glasses and contact lenses finally won out over her fear of the treatment.

“Of course, the experience was not nearly as bad as I had expected – it was not even remotely painful. It was all over quickly and I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was to be able to see clearly immediately afterwards.”

London Vision Clinic through the Eyes of a Businesswoman

Geeta’s visits to 138 Harley Street not only provided her with a solution to her short-sightedness, but it also gave her the opportunity to observe our Laser Eye Surgery process through the eyes of a successful CEO.

“I was tremendously impressed by the whole operation. It is an immaculately run organisation. Each part of the patient journey is seamless and faultless …every detail has been carefully considered.”

Following her successful treatment, like so many other London Vision Clinic patients, Geeta found herself wishing, “if only I had done it sooner”.

“When I look back to when the children were small and all those interrupted nights – feeding and nappy changing – struggling to get out of bed and find glasses before going to them, it would all have been so much easier to have been able to see properly then.”

Geeta also regrets how her busy travel schedule, which involved regularly travelling to differing time zones with all the paraphernalia required of contact lens wearers, could have been infinitely easier. But looking on the bright side, at least she no longer has to worry about her eyesight or dread make-up malfunctions during interviews or media appearances!

“Knowing I can see clearly all the time, even under bright television lighting, has given me a real confidence boost. It is just one thing less to have to think about even when having photographs taken”, she said.
